Happy birthday to Mary Pope Osborne ( and her twin brother) born in Oklahoma on May 20, 1949. She grew up in a military family and moved a lot: Salzburg, Austria, then to Virginia , and finally North Carolina where she went to college. She’s had adventures all over the world, from an earthquake in northern Afghanistan to camping in a cave on the island of Crete. Before she was a famous children’s author, she studied drama and comparative religion, and fell in love with Jesse James! Actually, she married actor/writer Will Osborne, whom she first saw in a musical where he played Jesse James. Now they live by a lake in Massachusetts with a treehouse in the yard. Do you think it could be magic?
