April (and May) Hike-You
April is poetry month, and to celebrate, we’re planning a “hike-you”, a hiking challenge where you also learn about haiku poetry and even write some of your own! From April 12th through May, you can hike, create some haiku, and share your experience with us at the library. To join in the fun, stop by the library for a packet. Then follow the instructions for a “haiku hike for you”. You get to pick your own hike, outside, for at least one hour. Each “Hike-You” sheet you fill out could be featured in our August Story Walk Display for Old Home Days. We might even publish some of your poetry on our website or Facebook page! You can turn in a total of 4 sheets, so lace up your boots, get outside, and let nature inspire and entertain you!

Peep-les Choice with 17 votes The Three Little Peeps
Create a diorama illustrating a scene from a book or a book title using peeps ( those little marshmallow chicks), and bring it to the library. Your diorama will be on display in the rotunda where people can vote for their favorite! Many other awards will be given at the whim of our judges, the Wilton Librarians. Please keep all submissions appropriate for all ages, but feel free to channel your inner comedi-hen.
How to Participate:
Imagine a book title or a literary scene using Peeps in a creative way.
Make a diorama using a shoe box or small box; 2ft x 3ft is the maximum size. Use Peeps, art supplies and whatever materials you have around the house to create the scene in your diorama. If you don’t know how to make a diorama, Google “how to make a diorama.”
Ask Ms. Boo if you can’t get Peeps! ( I will have some available for kids in need of marshmallows in tiny bird form for the sake of art- but not to be eaten).
Bring your creation to the library during open hours on Tuesday March 5th through Friday, March 15th.
To sign-in, fill out the contact information sheet ( at the children’s desk) and a display card.
Voting for the Peeple’s Choice Award will begin Saturday, March 9th and last through Wednesday, March 27th. One vote per library visit.
Categories: Kid ( age 2-12), Teen ( age 13-17), Adult ( age 18+), Group ( list ages) We will help with the categories when you sign in.
Vote in person at the library, whenever you visit, until March 27. The winners will be announced on our website and photos may be shared on our facebook page on Friday, March 29. By submitting your work, you give us permission to post a photo of your diorama on our website and social media platforms.
All dioramas must be removed from the library by April 12th. Good (c)luck!
